Habitation Checks

Habitation Check for Campervans & Motorhomes

A structured review of your living area and key comfort and safety items.

A habitation check looks at the “living” side of your vehicle, the space where you spend your time on site. It sits alongside mechanical servicing and other checks to give you a clearer picture of how the interior is holding up.

We focus on practical touring use, checking systems and fixtures that affect comfort, safety and everyday usability.

What a Habitation Check Includes

Our habitation check is designed to highlight issues that affect day‑to‑day living in your campervan or motorhome, not just tick boxes. We look at how things feel and function from an owner’s perspective.

  • Checks on water systems, taps, waste outlets and basic operation.
  • Visual inspection of doors, windows, lockers and seals.
  • Attention to ventilation, condition of key furnishings and general wear.

  • When you’ve noticed niggles with doors, windows, water or fittings.
  • After periods of heavy use or long trips where things may have loosened or worn.

How Our Habitation Check Works

1

Discuss Your Vehicle

We ask about its age, how it’s used and any specific areas you’re concerned about.

2

System & Fixture Checks

We work through a structured checklist covering water systems, doors, windows, lockers and key fixtures.

3

Interior Condition Review

We note obvious signs of wear, damage or comfort issues that might affect everyday use.

4

Feedback & Notes

We explain anything we’ve found, from minor adjustments through to items that may merit repair.

Habitation Check FAQs

Is a habitation check the same as a full service?
A habitation check focuses on the living area and its systems rather than the base vehicle. It’s a complement to, not a replacement for, regular mechanical servicing.
Will I get a written summary?
Yes. We can provide a simple written overview of what we’ve checked, any observations made and anything we think needs attention.
Do I need to empty the vehicle first?
You don’t need to strip everything out, but making sure we can access lockers, under‑seat areas and key cupboards helps the check go more smoothly.
Can you fix things you find during the check?
Some items can be adjusted or addressed quickly; others may need separate, more involved work. We’ll explain what’s sensible, along with options and next steps.
